In the astrology world, we are always speculating the ascendant, also known as the rising sign, of those closest to us, celebrities, and other public figures when a confirmed birth time cannot be found. Beyoncé is one of those people.

It is believed that Beyoncé is a Libra rising for reasons such as her beauty granted by Venus, her musical talent, and her grand business deals. In past chart interpretations I’ve done of Beyoncé (like analyzing her natal Venus-Pluto aspect and why she always breaks the internet) I used the rumored Libra ascendant to cast her chart. But without a confirmed birth time with an A or AA rating via the Rodden Rating System, I now take it with a grain of salt.

But no confirmed birth time has evert stopped me from making interpretations or guessing someone’s rising sign, and my guess is Beyoncé is a Cancer rising.

Family First Always

With Cancer on the ascendant, her Libra stellium consisting of Mercury, Saturn, Jupiter, Venus, and Pluto would be placed in the 4th house, the natural house of Cancer and the house of family and ancestors. Beyoncé is very family oriented, and all her businesses (Libra) have been in dedication to and pay homage to her family members past and present (4th house). Her first fashion line House of Deréon was named after her maternal grandmother’s maiden name and her current line Ivy Park is named after her first-born daughter Blue Ivy who also has a song named after her on Beyoncé’s self-titled album. These are all Venusian themes as Venus is the planet of women in general, aesthetics, and fashion.

She has dedicated her albums The Gift to her son and Renaissance to her Uncle Johnny and has dedicated numerous songs to her husband e.g., Virgo’s Groove and father e.g., Daddy. This is Jupiter and Saturn’s influence. Jupiter and Saturn are said to signify a woman’s husband and father. Her mother has been a part of her styling team since the beginning of her career, her father was her manager for the first decade of her career, and she has collaborated with her sister Solange on songs such as Naive on Solange’s debut album, Get Me Bodied, and Why Don’t You Love Me. This is the work of Mercury, the planet of siblings and communication.

Devoted to Being an Entertainer

One of the most interesting placements in her chart is her Scorpio Moon. The Moon being in the sign Scorpio is seen as the planet’s fall, meaning its power is hidden and energy weakened. Scorpio is an intense and profound water sign who is not as open and will typically internalize or embody their emotions rather than feel them through like Cancer or embrace them like Pisces. Because Scorpio’s co-ruler is Pluto, Scorpio has a transformative nature to it that is alluring to onlookers. A Moon in Scorpio person can internalize and transform their emotions into great things, and Beyoncé’s Lemonade album exemplifies this energy. In fact, the album was released while the Moon was in Scorpio in conjunction to hers!

Cancer as her rising sign puts her Scorpio Moon in the 5th house. Having this kind of energy in the house of creativity and talent, we can see why Beyoncé goes so hard and is so intentional in all her creative pursuits and performances: this is her emotional release; this is the only way she can emotionally express herself. The 5th house is also the house of children and with her Moon, the planet of motherhood and fertility, in its fall sign, this is a contributing factor in her past struggles with miscarriages that she has spoken about in her music and in a 2019 Elle interview. Another thing the 5th house denotes is one’s future and with Uranus accompanying the Moon here, we can see the theming and message of her albums progressively change as her personal life changes. As she emotionally matures, so will her music and creative directions.

There is a star cluster near the center of the Cancer constellation that is known as the Beehive Cluster, a name also used to describe fans of Beyoncé.

Could This Be Real?

Let me make things clear: the chart I used is not a rectified nor confirmed chart, so do not run off with it thinking it is Beyoncé’s real chart. It is a visual aid to show what a potential Beyoncé birth chart would look like with Cancer on the ascendant.

Because I do not know Beyoncé personally, an accurate, detailed chart reading cannot be done. My observations are based on what has been shared by the singer herself via interviews, documentaries, and music.

Also, I use the whole sign house system, so in the event of a true birth time ever coming out, the placement of her planets is due to change either because of a different ascendant sign or different house method.
